ADA — Hannah Bass, a senior at Ada High School, has been honored for her exemplary volunteer services with a President’s Volunteer Service Award. The award, which recognizes Americans of all ages who have volunteered significant amounts of their time to serve their communities and their country, was granted by The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program on behalf of President Obama.

Bass has volunteered at Lima Memorial Hospital for over four years with over 1,050 volunteer hours. She volunteered in the emergency room and was able to experience patient care first hand and really enjoyed taking care of people. In the emergency room, Bass did a variety of tasks and helped the staff with anything they needed. In 2013, she was awarded Volunteer of the Year from Lima Memorial Hospital for her dedication to the hospital and the community.

As a result of her experiences with Lima Memorial, Hannah Bass has chosen the career field of nursing. She plans to earn her STNA degree first, then find a job at a local hospital or nursing home to help pay for a nursing degree from Rhodes State College.
