ADA - Relay for Life is coming to Ada and the whole community is invited to join in.

The ONU chapter of Colleges Against Cancer will host Relay for Life on the tundra, in the middle of campus, between all the academic buildings, beginning on April 19, at 6 p.m. The event is 18 hours long and the closing ceremony will be at noon on April 20.

"We really want the community to feel involved in this year's Relay event. Because the event is held on campus, we feel as though there is a stigma amongst the community that the event is for college students only; this not the case.

In 2011, we had zero community teams involved. In 2012, we had three community teams participate and hope to have even more in 2013. Teams can be high schools, churches, businesses, or just a group of friends! Cancer is a universal problem and Relay has something to offer everyone," says Relay for Life Publicity Chair and Ohio Northern student, Lauren Stahl.

As of April 8, ONU has 196 Relay participants and 28 teams. Combined, the teams have currently raised $9,101. Last year, ONU raised more than $20,000 for the American Cancer Society. The Relay for Life committee wishes to exceed last year's total and encourages all students, faculty and community members to continue fundraising. If you have yet to sign up, have survived cancer, or would like to dedicate a luminaria, please visit www.relayforlife.org/onu.

Come to Relay for Life on April 19-20 to honor cancer survivors, remember lost loved ones, fight back against cancer, and have a night full of entertainment. Please contact Lauren Stahl at l-stahl@onu.edu for more information.
