ALGER — Connie Sue Gross, 70, died on Friday, March 7, 2014,
at 1:48 a.m., at Lima Memorial Health System. She was born on Oct. 28,
1943, in Steven Branch, Ky., to James and Pauline (VanHoose) Phillips
and they preceded her in death. On July 1, 1961, she married Marion
Gross, Jr., and he survives in Alger.
Connie retired after 12
years from Wilson Sporting Goods, of Ada, where she worked as a sewer.
She operated the Alger Variety Store for seven years and she was an active
member of the Auglaize Free United Baptist Church, Maysville.
surviving are a son, Timothy (Stacey) Gross, of Grove City; two
daughters, Tammy Elwood, of Arlington, and Angela (Donald) Robey, of
Ada; seven grandchildren, Jessica Williams, Spencer Gross, Nathan Gross,
Sara Elwood, Ashley Robey, Jonathen Robey and Andrew Robey; seven
great-grandchildren, Jayden Elwood, Jade Pinkstock, Dayne Williams, Gage
Stephens, Noah Roberts, Kaydence Williams and Everleigh Gross; two
brothers, James Phillips, of Kenton, and Billy (Joanna) Phillips, of
Waverly, Tenn.; and two sisters, Nancy (Jerry) Moore, of Kenton, and
Deborah Phillips, of McGuffey. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia Allen and Bonnie Boyd
services will begin at 11 a.m., on Friday, March 14, 2014, at
Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger, with Pastor Bill Prater and Brother
Harry Meade officiating. Burial will take place at Preston Cemetery,
Alger. Friends may call 2 to 4 p.m., and 6 to 8 p.m., on Thursday,
March 13, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger, and until the time of
service on Friday at the funeral home.
