ALGER — Janet B. Bridges, 98, died on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, at
5:33 p.m., at Hardin Memorial Hospital, Kenton. She was born on April
4, 1915, in Balsam, N.C., to Sam and Artie (Queen) Beck and they
preceded her in death. Janet first married Willie Tatham Jr., in 1932, they divorced and he later died. She then married Floyd A. Bridges on
May 21, 1946, and he died on Jan. 30, 1999.
She formerly worked as a stock person at Lima Baldwin Hamilton, in
Lima. She also previously worked for Davis Enamel, Inc., in Lima. She
was a member of High Street Freewill Baptist Church, of Ada, and a
former member of the LaFayette Missionary Church, in LaFayette.
Surviving is a daughter, Deloris (Wayne) Ward, of Thomasville, N.C.; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, William Van Tatham and Dennis Edward Tatham; a daughter, Peggy Golden; a brother, Walter Beck; and two sisters, Hettie Cogdill and Nettie Panel.
A private family service will be held with burial in Preston Cemetery, Alger.
