LaFAYETTE — Rowena V. Hawk, age 93, was called home to be with her
Lord, at 12 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, 2017, at Richland Manor Nursing Home,
Rowena was born April 15, 1923 in Harrod, to the late
Eber and Naomi (Moyer) Kaufman. On July 19, 1941 she married the love of
her life, Walter J. Hawk, who preceded her in death on April 8, 2005
after 63 wonderful years of marriage.
Rowena was a 1941 graduate
of Harrod High School. She had previously worked for Wayne’s Grocery in
LaFayette, Merle Norman Cosmetics and retired as a school bus driver,
study hall monitor and cafeteria cashier for Allen East Schools. Rowena
enjoyed bowling and golfing and was an avid fan of The Ohio State
Buckeyes, Cleveland Cavaliers and Cincinnati Reds. She was a dedicated
member of Zion Lutheran Church, LaFayette. Her greatest joy was spending
time with her family. She was lovingly referred to by her family and
many in the LaFayette community as Grandma Ro or Aunt Renie.
is blessed with a family who loved her dearly; son, Phil E. (Gerri) Hawk
of LaFayette; a daughter, Diane E. (Don) Jones of Ocala, Florida;
grandson, Jim Hawk and two great grandchildren, Alexa and Abby Hawk, all

Wapakoneta; special friend and his family, Bill Kimmel of LaFayette and a
special friend, Meghan Long of LaFayette.
She is preceded in death by brother, Dale Kaufman; sister, Lodema Jones and a brother-in-law, Jack Moots.
services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, at Zion Lutheran
Church, 101 E. Main Street, LaFayette, Ohio 45854. Rev. Robin Ramos
officiated the service. Burial was in LaFayette Cemetery.
