SPENCERVILLE - Visiting Ada scored five runs in the sixth inning and held off a big Spencerville rally in the seventh to post a 10-8 Northwest Conference win, their first in league play, Monday evening.
The victory improved the Ada record to 3-13 overall and 1-5 in the NWC.
Spencerville fell to 6-8 and 2-4 in the league with the loss.
Ada led 3-2 before the five-run sixth frame lengthened their edge to 8-2.
The Bulldogs added two runs in the top of the seventh to extend their lead to 10-3. The insurance runs proved to be vital as the Bearcats scored five times in their last at bat but came up short.
