ADA - Ada scored three runs in the first inning and made them stand up in a 4-1 non-league softball win over visiting Cory-Rawson Saturday.
The victory upped the unblemished Lady Bulldog record to 3-0 this spring.
C-R plated their lone run in the top of the first frame. Ada drew two walks to start the bottom of the first, then a batter reached base on a dropped third strike by the Hornet catcher.
The Bulldogs then scored on an RBI ground-out and via a double steal.
Catcher Ashley Windle added a run-scoring single.
Junior hurler Alexis Amburgey pitched a complete game, allowing just five hits while striking out seven. She gave up just one earned run and two walks in the pitcher's duel that saw just seven combined hits on the cool day.
Ada made the most of their two hits by Windle and Kaylee Spangler, who collected a game-high two RBI. C-R also committed three errors and issued three walks.
"We won but didn't hit the ball very well," said head coach Ken Jochims.
"Not much offense from either team."
