Bulldog 220-pound senior matman Brady Pitney lost his first round match by pin to Adrian Harding of Greeneview at 5:27. Pitney then bounced back in the consolation bracket to pin Kyle Singleton of Tri-County North at 1:10.
As a team, Ada ranks 27th of 48 teams in the district after the first day of competition with 11 points. Dayton Christian ranks first with 77 points.
All four Bulldogs will be back in action in second round consolation bracket action at Troy Saturday, with competition starting at 10 a.m.
Windle (36-5 record) will take on Tytus Collins of Waynesville in his next match.
Beach (34-7) meets Travis McDaniel while Woodland (30-11) faces Logan Raleigh of Reading.
Pitney (25-13) will take on Cody Carr of Brookville.
All four will have to win four matches in a row Saturday to finish as high as third. A loss in any bout before the third-place match will eliminate them from potential state qualification.
The top four finishers in each class make it to the state meet next weekend, with fifth place being an alternate in case of injury. The top six district placers will receive a medal.
