ADA -- The Ohio Northern women's tennis topped OAC foe Heidelberg 9-0 and NAIA opponent Indiana Tech 8-1 on Tuesday at the University Courts.
The Polar Bears improve to 18-4 overall and the win over the Student Princes moves them to 4-0 in the OAC. Heidelberg falls to 2-8, 1-3 and Indiana Tech is now 3-9.
Against Heidelberg, juniors Lauren Rife and Michelle Tuma, sophomore Kristin Cellentani and freshman Christina Corbean and Rachael Miller all won twice to pace Northern.
Cellentani and Rife teamed up to win No. 2 doubles by an 8-1 margin.
Rife also won at No. 5 singles 6-0, 6-1 and Cellentani won at No. 3 singles 6-0, 6-0.
Miller won at No. 1 doubles with Tuma by an 8-1 score.
Tuma was victorious at No. 1 singles 6-4, 6-2.
Miller and junior Kelsi Wurm won at No. 4 and 6 singles 6-0, 6-0, respectively.
Corbean and freshman Taryn Stromback teamed up for an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles.
Corbean won No. 2 singles 6-3, 6-1.
In the match against Indiana Tech, Miller and Tuma teamed up for their second victory of the day at No. 1 doubles by a 8-3 score.
Freshman Meghan Letizia and Stromback won 8-5 at No. 2 doubles, while Rife and Wurm teamed for an 8-1 victory at No. 3 doubles.
Singles play saw Rife and Miller win 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 5 and No. 6 position, respectively.
Stromback won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4 singles, while Letizia was victorious by a 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2 singles.
Tuma won 7-6(5), 6-3 at No. 1 singles.
Miller, Rife and Tuma all finished the day with a perfect 4-0 record.
Ohio Northern will return to action on Saturday, with an OAC double header at Mount Union at 1 pm and at Marietta at 6 pm.
