ADA - Delphos Jefferson took a two-run lead after a wild eight-run first inning, and never trailed in posting an 18-3 run-rule win at Ada Thursday in the Northwest Conference season finale.
DJ improved to 15-10 overall and ended NWC play at 5-3. Ada dropped to 4-15 with the loss and finished 2-6 in league play.
After falling behind 5-0 in the top of the first inning, the Bulldogs rallied.
Brayden Sautter singled and advanced to third on a double by Connor English.
Shane Downing then cranked a three-run homer to pull Ada within 5-3. But that was as close as they would get.
Jefferson scored four runs in each of the next two innings, and plated five in the fourth to put the game out of reach.
Downing added a single to his homer and drove in all three Bulldog runs.
The Wildcats out-hit Ada 12-7 in the five-inning contest. Hermon doubled and drove in four runs to pace Jefferson.
