ADA - Visiting Miller City beat Ada 10-0 in boys soccer season-opening action Monday evening.
Powerful Miller City scored eight first-half goals but the Bulldog defense stiffened up after halftime.
The loss dropped the Bulldogs to 0-1.
"It was a little rough out there, but I am proud of how hard we played in the second half," said new head coach Jason Okuly. "We started a lot of freshmen so we had some first-game jitters. We got pushed around a bit, they are a big soccer school (without varsity football)."
Tyler Rockhill made 18 saves in goal for the purple and gold. Freshman Terry Sheridan had two shots go off the crossbar. Ada also played without one of its top players in Cole East, who was sidelined by a concussion.
The Bulldogs visit county rival Kenton Wednesday evening. East may play at Kenton and is expected back at Spencerville Saturday.
