ADA -- Five members of the Ohio Northern men's soccer team were named Academic All-Ohio by the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association (OCSA).



Senior Jeremy Barnes, senior Matt Fleming and senior Stephen Perkins all earned First Team Academic All-Ohio honors, while sophomore Shintaroh Itoh and sophomore Chad Smith both were named Honorable Mention Academic All-Ohio.

Barnes, a pharmacy major, was also named First Team All-OAC, Honorable Mention All-Region and Academic All-OAC.

This season, he scored seven goals and led the team with 12 assists.

Fleming earns his second straight Academic All-Ohio selection.

The international business and spanish double-major concludes his career with 97 match appearances, which is tied for third most in program history.

Perkins is majoring in mechanical engineering.

This season, he scored a career-high eight goals on his way to being named First Team All-OAC.

Itoh, a sport management major, set career-highs in goals (four), assists (five) and points (13).

This is his first Academic All-Ohio honor.

Smith played in all 22 games this season, making 20 starts on defense.

This is his first Academic All-Ohio selection and he was also named Academic All-OAC.

Ohio Northern posted a 18-4-0 record, winning its fourth consecutive OAC Tournament title and third straight OAC Regular Season championship under head coach Brent Ridenour.
