WAPAKONETA — Upper Scioto Valley outscored Marion Local in overtime
Thursday evening to claim a 47-43 win in the Division IV district
semi-finals at Wapakoneta High School.
The Rams (21-3) advance to the Division IV district finals Saturday, at 7 p.m., against top seeded Minster. Minster defeated New Bremen in the second game Thursday night 39-23.
USV forced overtime by outscoring the Flyers 12-7 in the fourth quarter. Alyssa Miller had seven points for the Rams in the fourth quarter and Haley Hunsicker had three points, all at the free throw line. Macey Grieshorn had four points for Marion Local in the fourth quarter as the Flyers attempted to protect their lead.
In overtime, the Rams outscored the Flyers 7-3 for the win. Emily Patton had four points for the Rams in the extra session and Miller had two points. All of Marion Local's points in overtime came at the free throw line.
Marion Local had a 22-13 halftime lead as they outscored USV 14-5 in the second quarter. Kara Evers had six points for the Flyers in the second quarter and Grieshorn added four points. Miller and Shelby Spradlin both had two points for USV in the quarter.
USV began their comeback in the third quarter outscoring Marion Local 15-11 to trail 33-28 after three quarters. Patton had 10 points for the Rams in the quarter as she went 6-of-6 at the free throw line. Kaycee Carroll hit a three-pointer for the Rams in the quarter. Natalie Rethman had four points for the Flyers in the quarter and Jessie Kramer three points.
Patton had a double-double for the Rams in the game with 16 points and 10 rebounds, along with three assists. Miller added 11 points, nine rebounds and two steals. Carroll had nine points and four rebounds and Spradlin eight points and six rebounds.
Grieshorn led the Flyers with 16 points and Evers 13 points. Rethman finished with 11 points for Marion Local.
