ADA -- After a six-year hiatus, Ada High School Boys Soccer is resurrecting a long-standing tradition this Friday evening (Aug. 5) at 6 p.m. on the new turf field at War Memorial Stadium.

The Alumni Game!

According to AHS Boys Head Soccer Coach Jason Okuly, enough guys had been “bugging” him about it that he thought: ‘Why not?’

Why not, indeed.

Coach Okuly said the Alumni Team will include several guys who played on the now famous, or at least sorta famous, 2017 team, which went 12-6-1, and also went rather deep into the playoffs.

The coach said players from that team, like Terry Sheridan, Logan Williams, Noah Tinkney and Brian Casiano will all be there that night. A number of them continue to play local club soccer, and Casiano will be traveling from Indiana to play.

As for the other alumni who, oh, may not have been playing as much as these other guys? Their bench will have no shortage of oxygen and IcyHot pain relief cream – to put on fast twitch muscle fibers, which, admittedly, may have slowed a bit.

Coach Okuley also said the high school team will prove formidable Friday night. And what’s more, he said the team is off a 7-8-3 season last year, while only losing two players to graduation.

What’s more, he said that 75% of the team played Summer League Soccer this summer and should be in great shape this fall.

This is Coach Okuly’s 9th year as head coach, and he said that, not only is he excited about the upcoming season, but he is quite excited to see some of his former players this weekend.

Admission is free Friday and Coach Okuly added that he’d appreciated as much community support in the stands as possible.
