Where were you born? Where did you grow up?

I was born in Bluffton, Ohio. I grew up in Mt. Cory and went to Cory-Rawson-then I went to BGSU.

What brought you to this area? Or kept you here?

I was interviewed and received a job to teach 5th grade back in 1986. I taught for one year, then I worked for Cooper Tire in Tyler, Texas and Ohio/Indiana/Michigan for 17 years. I then wanted to get back into teaching and the Lord blessed me that Ada offered me a junior high job.

What is your occupation?

I am a 7th grade ELA teacher for Ada Schools/Owner of High Glass Basketball Camps.

Why do you love what you do?

The students. I know that the Good Lord has me right where he wants me and I love being a part of the students’ educational experiences. When they graduate--it makes me so proud of them and all they have and will accomplish. I believe that as a teacher I am not only obligated to educate the students -academically but also prepare them for the real world and help them become productive, positive community members that can function in real life with confidence.

What is your favorite thing about this community?

My favorite thing about this community is the caring, bonding, and compassion each community member has for one another.

What are you involved in within the community?

I am a teacher, I was/am a coach, and I follow the students around enjoying the extra curricular events they are in.

What are some of your hobbies?

Some of my hobbies are garage sales, auctions, making yard figures, coaching AAU with my oldest son, helping my oldest daughter with coaching girls varsity basketball, and following my grandchildren around -watching and cheering them on in their events./Running my High Glass Basketball Camps for girls and boys in grades 4-12. This will be my 20th year and the amount of campers that have went to High Glass and improved their basketball skills-to where they helped their school team, or went on to the college level, or just felt good about themselves is absolutely amazing to me. It has been a true blessing to have had the opportunity to be involved with so many campers basketball experiences.
