Where were you born?

Lima Memorial Hospital

What brought you to this area? Or kept you here?

As an alumni of Ada High School and Ohio Northern University, I’ve been part of the Ada community my whole life. After graduation from pharmacy school, Sara and I decided that this was where we wanted to raise our family.

What is your occupation?

I’m the director of ONU HealthWise. We offer many healthcare services to the community including a new retail pharmacy located at the college of pharmacy and a mobile health clinic that travels to locations all over Hardin County. All are welcomed. Additionally, we offer wellness services to the students, retirees and employees of Ohio Northern and other employers in the area.

Why do you love what you do?

The work that we are doing with ONU HealthWise, specifically the new community pharmacy and mobile clinic, is providing much needed healthcare to our county in a new and exciting way. Additionally, these services are providing our students with meaningful experiences and strengthening ties between our community and the university. I am proud to play a role in these services and to have the opportunity to give back to the community of Ada and Hardin County.

What is your favorite thing about this community?

The people in this community are genuine, hardworking and kind. We pass these values on to our children and take pride in our schools and our town. We wave to our neighbors and offer a hand in any way that we can. I recognized this culture as a child but have grown to respect it as an adult. Throughout my time working with the university, the community has always shown its support and encouragement for the HealthWise program. The reception has been tremendous.

What are you involved with in the community?

I have been involved in many aspects with Ada schools since graduation. Each year I volunteer to judge STEM projects for the middle school science department. Additionally, I am an active member of the Ada High School Alumni Association and currently serve as co-president along with my wife Sara. (In reality, she is the president and I’m her assistant!)  The alumni association provides many charitable services to the community through various fundraisers and special events. The Association also sponsors an annual scholarship for a graduating senior attending college in the fall.

Outside of the school system, I volunteer my time with our community youth athletics programs where I’ve thoroughly enjoyed coaching my two sons in tee-ball and soccer. My family and I are also active members of the Ada First United Methodist Church.

Professionally, I have previously served on the advisory board for Activate Allen County’s Diabetes Prevention program and HealthWise currently serves on the Hardin County Healthy Lifestyles Coalition. I have also assisted with various food pantries and community meals in Hardin County through our work with the mobile clinic.

What are some of your hobbies?

Right now, our sons Jacob and Benjamin are really into sports. Sara and I spend a lot of time with them at the park or in the yard kicking soccer balls, throwing footballs and catching fly balls or in the driveway shooting hoops.
