Where were you born? Where did you grow up?
I was born in Lima, Ohio and was raised outside of Alger, Ohio.  I attended Upper Scioto Valley Schools.

What brought you to this area? Or kept you here?
I attended Bluffton College after High School, and even though it was not far from home it did not feel like home.   During College I started my career as a part time Police Officer in the Village of Alger and later joined the Ada Police Department as a full time officer. I am currently employed at the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office.  I enjoy the ability to work and serve in the community where I grew up and live.

What is your occupation?
I am a Sergeant at the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office.

Why do you love what you do?
I love that no two days at work are the same.  I love having the opportunity to help others and be a positive influence.

What is your favorite thing about this community?
I really like the sense of belonging that is shared with people in the area. People have a general sense of care for their neighbors.   I get to see this while working. Often when I am out on calls people stop and ask if they can “do anything to help” or ask “is everyone okay”.  I am not sure that this sense of concern for others is shared everywhere.

What are you involved within the community?
My family and I attend Abundant Life Ministries in Kenton, Ohio. I teach the ALICE program (active shooter response) to local school districts, Churches, and businesses. I also teach CCW related courses.  Teaching is done through the Sheriff’s Office, but is done outside of my normal work times.

What are some of your hobbies?
When I have free time I enjoy working on small projects around the house and riding my motorcycle.  I also enjoy spending time with my family and friends.
