ADA — “Merry on Main.”
The
village (businesses, service clubs, community members at large…) of Ada
will be out in full force to celebrate the festivities Monday, Dec. 2,
from 5:30 to 7:30. And one of the more prolific providers of all things
merry will be the Ada Library.
In fact, the
Library is bringing in Santa this year, as they did last year. It’s
rumored that in between holiday seasons, he likes to read. I mean, what
else would one do at the North Pole – without cell service? [So, the
library has given Santa, not the “Keys to the Village,” but rather,
that’s right, a library card.]
Library Director Rhett Grant said
Santa, and as a double bonus, Mrs. Clause, will be stationed at Ada’s
First Methodist Church. (You should be able to tell where it is by the
line.)
What’s more, besides bringing in Santa, the Library brought
in “The Grinch” last year as well. Okay, so there seemed a disparity in
the combination. But the kids loved The Grinch, too.
[Incidentally,
but don’t tell anyone, The Grinch last year doubles as none other than
Ada’s Village Administrator Jamie Hall. Mr. Hall graduated from Bowling
Green. The Grinch is green. It seemed the perfect fit.]
However,
I’m told by an anonymous winter whistleblower (okay, okay, it’s
Rudolph), that despite The Grinch’s popularity last year, Mr. Hall is
politely bowing out this year.
“He said he was just too hot in The Grinch suit last year,” Mr. Grant smiled.
What’s
more, while The Grinch had, once again, intended to steal Christmas
from “WhoDeyville,” he, alas, thought better of it — given Bengals fans
already feel like their season has been ‘stolen.’ (Ew, sorry! Ouch,
huh.) Besides bringing in Santa, the Library is also putting on a Kids
Craft Show at the Depot, as they also did last year.
Mr. Grant
said the children will make all sorts of things, including some pretty
creative Christmas ornaments. ONU students, and some Lions Club members,
will combine to help the youth with their creations.
Note:
Other Merry on Main highlights will include: a live nativity scene at
Ada First United Methodist, choir singing, photos with the movie Frozen’s Anna & Elsa, hot chocolate, cookies, and much more.
