ADA — On Monday, residents of Ada and surrounding communities took part in what is fast becoming a holiday tradition: Merry on Main.

Sponsored by the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce, the event featured a host of seasonal treats that included a pair of reindeer — Dancer and Prancer — outside the Depot, provided by Pine Acres Reindeer Farm out of Larue.

Inside the Depot, participants mingled as they noshed on cookies washed down with hot chocolate, and gathered around craft tables to make ornaments and gifts.

Outside Ada First UMC, a live nativity was supported by a team of carolers performing songs of the season.

Though the weather was somewhat shy of “frightful”, there was a definite chill in the air, accompanied by the occasional drizzle of rain bordering on snow.

Even so, Merry on Main — created as not only a celebration of the season, but a shop local event — drew more than a few participants and shoppers for local business.

“We had the most attendance we ever had for this event,” said Deb Curlis, director of the AACC. “It was so nice to see so many families come out and enjoy themselves.”
