ADA — Allen East jumped out to an early lead Saturday on their way to a 59-39 win over Upper Scioto Valley in the championship game of the second annual Border Battle Tournament.
This is the second straight year the Lady Mustangs have won the championship of this tournament.
Allen East got off to a good start as they outscored the Rams 17-4 in the opening quarter. Lauren Criblez helped the Mustangs get off to a good start with eight first quarter points and Kate Newland added five points as she hit a three-pointer. Allison Moore scored all four points for the Rams.



Allen East continued to pull away in the second quarter with a 15-8 scoring margin. Kate Newland and Sydney Miller both had four points for the Mustangs, while Greasen Evans had four points for USV.
The Mustangs had one big quarter left in them as they outscored USV 19-11 in the third quarter. Tori Newland and Ciblez both had six points in the quarter for Allen East and Lakin Basham had four points. Bri Hurley had five points for the Rams.
In the final quarter, USV outscored the Mustangs 16-8 for the final score. Evans scored 10 points for the Rams and Sanders had six points. Four different players scored two points each for the Mustangs.
Criblez led the Mustangs with 18 points and Kate Newland had 12 points. Tori Newland finished with 10 points.
Evans had 16 points to lead USV and Sanders added eight points.
