GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Ohio Northern men's swimming and diving program concluded their stay at the Calvin (Mich.) Invitational Saturday, November 3, claiming 10 total top-five finishes to end the weekend fourth in a five-team field inside the Venema Aquatic Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

The Polar Bears scored 626 points over the two-day event to top Hope (Mich.), who compiled 318 points. Meet host and No. 17-ranked Calvin won the team championship with 916 points while Albion (Mich.) and Carthage (Wisc.) wound up second and third with 866 points and 742 points, respectively.

Senior Pete He (Mason) and freshman Jeremy Adams (Ypsilanti, Mich./Ann Arbor Pioneer) headlined Northern's day two performances, each earning runner-up honors.




He added a runner-up effort in the 100-yard fly event during the morning session following his event title in the 50 free one day prior. The senior would turn in a 52.42 clocking, only trailing Albion's Nate Kozycki in the race, who reached the wall in 51.54.

The Mason native also registered a fifth-place finish in the 100 free with a 48.38 touch.

Meanwhile, Adams raced to a 1:00.08 finish in the 100 breast for the remaining runner-up performance during the second day. The freshman would edge out Carthage's Jack Wallar and teammate Anthony Ferrell (Canton/Glen Oak), who finished fourth in 1:00.70, by less than one second separating the second-through-fourth positions.

Adams would go on to claim third-place in the 200 breast during the evening session. His time of 2:11.19 would finish just one second behind event champion Mitch Mages.

Junior Nolan Huey (Fort Collins, Colo./Fossil Ridge) continued a solid weekend with two third-place efforts on Saturday. The former All-Conference swimmer would complete the 100 back in 52.88 and the 200 back in 1:56.67.

The Polar Bears also registered three top-five finishes in the relay events, kicked off by a fourth-place finish in the 200 medley relay. Huey, Adams, He, and senior Justin Chapman (Springboro) completed the race in 1:36.60 in the first event of the morning session.

Adams and Huey went on to join freshmen Justin DeLano (Englewood/Northmont) and Jackson Stanley (Beavercreek) to capture third in the 800 free relay in 7:21.15.

In the weekend's final event, He, Huey, Chapman, and Adams wound up third in the 400 yard relay. They would finish six seconds off the pace set by Calvin's winning team, posting a 3:14.30 mark.

Ohio Northern will break from action until Friday, November 16 when they host Wittenberg in a dual at the ONU Sports Center Natatorium. Meet time is set for 6 p.m. in Ada.
